If they’ve noticed Chi-Chi Ekeh at all, the Nigerian-American’s fellow students might describe her as a scholarship student amid the hordes of rich kids, as one of the few persons of colour at an almost all-white school¹, or as a bright but extremely anxious nobody.

Ngozi Ukazu’s 2024 Barda is a stand-alone superhero graphic novel, set in Jack Kirby’s Fourth World. Although perhaps superhero isn’t the correct term.
